The subpod was extremely simple to assemble and install. My husband made a box to accommodate it and just yesterday I activated it with paper and dry leaves and compost and worms from our existing compost. It is a very convenient solution to pest problems in our compost system. Thank you.
I've been vermicomposting for over a decade and this is the best design I have found for keeping an bulky plastic container out of sight and for regulating temperature (going underground). Now that's its in the ground I am very happy with it, however I took a star off because it is very expensive after taxes and shipping for UK customers (£185) and the lid keeps coming out of its hinges every time I open it, which is annoying. I now just rest the lid on top of the box. Also, the small screw to connect the aerator to the handle was missing. Little things, but I pay attention to details...Overall, I hope the Subpod is a success and that more people will compost with worms, I'm a bit obsessed!
Solid unit with excellent support online with helpful tutorial videos.
So far my experience with the Subpod is great. I love putting my compostable food scraps and other house hold materials into the compost bin! Now all I need are my worms :)
The Subpod arrived well packaged, and was straightforward to put together, just the hinge on the lid was a bit fiddly. The Subpod was small enough that I could move it easily once assembled too. I have installed it in an established raised bed, and started it off with worms from my other compost bin. So far, it makes a good seat, blends in well with the rest of the garden. It is easy to reach from the path to add more kitchen vegetable waste to. I'm not sure how fast it will work, given we are well into autumn here in the UK, though I am hoping for worm compost for potting plants in the spring.
